Eine Freundin schrieb gestern in ihrem Tagebuch/Blog, Mandeln seien der neue Hype der Veganer:innen. Es ist wirklich tragisch. Sie wollen etwas Gutes tun, verzichten auf tierische Produkte und wissen nicht, was sie befördern.

Xylella fastidiosa war schon daran, die Olivenhaine zu zerstören, als ich mich 2017 zwei Monate im Salento aufhielt und Haine antraf, die aussahen, als wäre eine Bombe explodiert. Seit mindestens drei Jahren wussten die Leute im Salento, dass sich das Bakterium im ganzen Mittelmeerraum ausbreitet. - Entdeckt worden war es schon +/- 2008. Aber die Behörden haben auch da gemauert. 1000 Jahre alte Olivenbäume sterben ein paar Wochen nach dem Befall. Genauso wusste man, dass auch Mandelbäume befallen werden. Und jetzt also trotzdem der Mandelhype. Was wir mit Monokulturen anrichten, wissen wir jetzt wie lange schon. Ach, Mensch.
So traurig es ist, diese Mandelbäume werden also bald kein Wasser mehr brauchen, wenn sie weiterhin in Monokulturen stehen müssen.
Gesundheitlich habe ich es bald geschafft. Ein wenig spüre ich die "Käfer" noch in den Nebenhöhlen. Aber immerhin feiern sie keine Feste mehr und seit Freitag bin ich fieberfrei. Gegen Ende gings dann doch nicht mehr ohne Inhalator mit Cortison, die Bronchien waren etwas spastisch. Meine Hausärztin meinte am vergangenen Dienstag, sechs bis acht Wochen seien derzeit die Norm. Da bin ich ja heilfroh, dass es bei sechseinhalb blieb.

A friend yesterday wrote in her diary/blog, that almonds are the new vegan hype. It's really tragic. They want to do something good, give up meat and other products, humans are producing and don't know what they're promoting.
Xylella fastidiosa was already destroying the olive groves when I spent two months in Salento in 2017 and came across groves that looked like a bomb had exploded. People in Salento had known for at least three years that the bacterium was spreading throughout the Mediterranean. - It had already been discovered +/- 2008, but even then the authorities stonewalled. 1000-year-old olive trees die a few weeks after infestation. It was also known that almond trees were also infested. And now the almond hype is still going on. We've known for how long what we're doing with monocultures?! Oh dear.
As sad as it is, these almond trees will soon no longer need water if they have to continue growing in monocultures.
Health. I'm soon home and dry. Yes. Soon it will be done. I can still feel the "bugs" (viruses and bacteria) in my sinuses a little. But at least they're not having any more parties and I've been fever-free since Friday. Towards the end I couldn't manage without an inhaler with cortisone, my bronchial tubes were a bit spastic. My female family doctor said last Tuesday that six to eight weeks is the norm at the moment. I'm really glad that it stayed at six and a half.
